However Assad's forces continue attacking. Reportedly, bombardments by government tanks continue in Houla. Also Assad forces launched attacks to Deras and Aleppo with heavy weapons. The Syrian opposition has given the Syrian government a deadline of noon Friday to observe a UN ceasefire that calls for government forces to withdraw from residential areas.

One of the prominent opponents of Syria said "There is no deadline, but we want Kofi Annan to issue a declaration announcing the failure of this plan so that we would be free to carry out any military operation against Assad's regime". However the Damascus administration called the opposition groups who are based abroad and are against any foreign intervention.

While Western powers call for imposing sanctions against Syria, Russia and China maintain their stance. China urged the world to give UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan for Syria more time.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said "such an intervention will make the situation more complicated".
