Disposing cigarette litter can now cost smokers a hefty fine of 38 euros.

Those breaking the rule will pay a fine of 38 Euros.

Foundation Against Cancer in France hopes to extend the smoking ban to several other beaches in the city.

Municipal officers announced that while taking the decision they considered how cigarettes damaged health and environment.

France banned smoking in most public places five years ago, followed by a ban in 2008 for bars and cafes.

The country aims to reduce smoking rates by half in 20 years.
