Several hundred people ransacked the campaign headquarters of the Egyptian presidential candidate Mohammed Morsi in Cairo.

The attack comes just hours after the country's election commission announced Monday that Shafiq would face the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate, Mohammed Morsi, in a June 16-17 runoff for the presidency. Protests also erupted in the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria.
