German Foreign Minister Guido Westrerwelle had a meeting with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu in Ankara.

Westerwelle repeatedly said Turkey's EU membership will be in the interest of European Union and Turkey's has a breathtaking economy and a story of political success. We want to be in cooperation.

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said that new chapters in negotiations could not be opened because of obstacles raised by France and Greek Cypriot Sector and made a reference to the results of French election.

Davutoğlu said Wsterwelle's affirmative words are important for new chapters. We hope that the chapters will be opened which could not be opened because of Sarkozy's one sided approach. Turkey will not accept Greek Cypriot Sector as its interlocutor during its EU Term Presidency.

Syria and Iran issues were discussed at the meeting.

Westerwelle on his part said that especially in the matter of Syrian refugees Turkey is running a policy which awakes appreciation, respect and gratitude and plays a key role.

Regarding the increasing racist activities in his country German Foreign Minister Westerwelle said Germany feels a shame. Necessary efforts will be exerted.
